Magazine shoot

Yesterday I got my model and had them over to take some pictures.
The shoot wasn't the best but I think I got the shots that I wanted. I've started to edit them and create my title but there are images that I shall be including on my post as well as the actual cover progress that I've been doing.

these are just 3 images that I took on the shoot in order to start making my front cover, contents and double page spread.

I choose the makeup and dress of the model in order to fit the indie style of the magazine. 

Today's lesson I'm aiming to produce several different magazine covers with different title fonts to see which one I like best.

I've gone on different websites and picked fonts that I like and stand out against the black and white picture. I've found that having a black and white image and then changing the title to a bright colour would make the magazine stand out more. I'm going to try and add some effects to the title and other important articles so that they stand out as well.

I've become very good at using the magic wand tool when adding the titles in to the page as there is a lot of white space around that I needed to edit out and therefore have gotten quicker at editing them down

 

Today's lesson I've been making a front page for the music magazine using the best test shot from the shoot.

I've also been looking at different fonts to have as the title as its going to be the signature of the page and the entire magazine therefore needs to be important.

This is the title that I've decided to have, I edited it on the website and changed the colour for the particular front page that I've been designing. For other covers that I might mock up I'll probably change the colour so that it fits into red or perhaps a black. 

I've shown the page to other people and they have given me advice to change the font colour so that it stands out. The page doesn't stand out so much, with the text colour, so I have to change it to white or the colour of the title, in a different shade of purple.

I've also got the fonts page to look at and have other people evaluate to see which type of font that they like.

I've uploaded my test shots and have will begin editing them to put a title on and the main article to see what type of shot looks the best when it comes to my final image. I'm also going to edit anything that I don't like out of the image such as background area.

I'v had some verbal feedback from my teacher and added some comments to my flatplans and preliminary task to explain what I was doing at the time.

Finishing research...

I've spent a little time updating and uploading the contents pages and double page spreads that I didn't do whilst doing my research phase. It's taken a little while due to the fact that there are 4 of them and I needed to do the double page spread and contents page for each. 

They aren't actually up to a decent enough standard for me but I've uploaded all of them and added some information to them that is a good starting point although I may add to it later, possibly tomorrow if I get the chance. I'll be adding only small bits of information such as comparisons to other contents pages and double page spreads.

After finishing my all of my research, hopefully by tomorrow I'm going to try and get on to my test shots as part of my planning, which means organisation etc that I might plan out tomorrow in time for Wednesday. 

I've uploaded my flatplans to blogger after scanning them in and having them emailed to me. they came out a little faint on the copier but they are readable. They only provide as a base outline for my work and I'm now onto my test shots of my magazine so I have to organise my location and model to have a photoshoot for the image on the front cover.

I'll most likely have my images by the end of the week and then begin editing them on Photoshop to get the best quality image with the indie look that I want for the artist on the front cover. I might have several photoshoots to try and get the best images for my front cover.

The past week I have been creating my flat-plans as part of my planning stage and have created one for the contents, double page spread and front page.

I've also been informed that I was supposed to do an analysis of an actual magazines contents and double page spread, so over the next two days and the start of the Christmas holidays I'm going to be completing them and also completing my test shots for my front cover with a friend as well as doing my very best to complete the rest of my planning and get ahead as much as possible during the time I have off.
